Daily Bread: Power in the Tongue
For the last few weeks I've been purposing to wake up and start my day with Jesus. Praying and preparing for the day with worship has always been routine for me, but I wanted to take it a step further.
I got on the phone with my brother, Emeka, and we started brainstorming words of affirmation that we wanted to speak over our lives to start our day. Our words have the power to give life or put to death things in our lives. The men and women in the Bible commanded the sun to stand still, closed up the windows of Heaven from rain for three years, stopped the tyranny of giants and took captive armies of mighty kingdoms just by the words they spoke.
Proverbs 18:21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge in it will eat its fruit and reap the consequences of their words."
I encourage anyone that reads this to ask God to give you the right words to speak over your life. Even if you take the spiritual aspect out of it, speaking positive words and having positive thoughts can and will change the trajectory of your life.
